Reasons to buy the carlinkit tbox

  • During the adapter development had the newest Android 13
  • Very powerful - 8GB RAM (unmatched in its category given its size) with 128GB storage
  • Compact
  • SIM and microSD card slot
  • Ability to watch YouTube, Netflix, etc. E.g. while charging, or crew during a long trip. Watching videos while driving is dangerous and at your own risk!

  • Car Scanner - car data via diagnostics - accurate capacity, temperatures, faults, cell voltage fluctuations, etc. (Must purchase an OBD adapter, e.g. OBD Link CX)
  • Smoother system than original infotainment
  • Possibility of creating a hotspot for the crew (SIM with data required)
  • And a lot more

And where do I get one?

We recommend getting it from Amazon. You can also get it from AliExpress or by consulting your local dealer.

We would also suggest getting the 8/128GB model for smoother operation.

Tips for hassle-free use of Carlinkit:
1. If you are using a hotspot for internet, disable automatic hotspot shutdown in the hotspot settings

2. If you use the second USB for charging, you will be reporting two android car devices. You need to either turn off data transfer on the phone and turn on charging only, or use only the power cable, not the data cable

How it comes together

FAQ

Will I lose my car warranty?

No, the Carlinkit adapter does not interfere with your car's warranty. It is a plug-and-play device that connects using USB-C.

Why aren't you selling the Carlinkit too?

Many customers already have Carlinkit at home. Otherwise, our customers can purchase it with the default warranty and the option of a refund if needed in their location.

Does it come with internet?

No, the device itself does not have internet. For streaming, you need to create a hotspot on your mobile or put a SIM card in the device.

Can I use any Android Auto Box?

No, you can't. The Carlinkit Carplay AI Box is the only one that is tested to be compatible with our adapter.

Can I use it in cars that aren't ID.Buzz?

No, you can't. The adapter is only designed to fit in the ID.Buzz.

How difficult is it to install, can I do it alone?

Yes, everyone can do it. The installation is really simple and only takes a few seconds.

Why should I buy your adapter, when I just buy the Carlinkit?

Thanks to our reduction, Carlinkit has optimized cooling for long-term use and is elegantly hidden in the interior - it isn't flying everywhere. With this you can easily put it in the phone pocket and if needed you can remove it anytime. The design of the vent is inspired by ID. Buzz, so it also matches the interior perfectly.

How does the Apple Carplay connection work?

When you first click the Apple Carplay connection, the box will turn itself on and jump to the home screen without any setup when plugged into the USB-C port.

Can I have my phone and box connected at the same time?

It is possible to have both devices connected at the same time, but you have to switch between them, you can't use both at the same time, but in our experience Carlinkit replaces the need for Android Auto so you just need to have your mobile connected via Bluetooth for calls and Carlinkit does the rest.

How do you install and set it up?

The assembly of the reducer and box is shown in detail in our video see:
And then just plug into the USB-C connector and after a little while in the car, click on Apple Carplay →select AI BOX and connect. Every time you start it up again, Carlinkit activates and opens itself within about a minute after plugging in/turning on the car.

Do I need to pair it with my phone?

No, Carlinkit only connects via Apple Carplay to the car via USB-C. No pairing with a mobile phone is required.

How and why was the adapter conceived

At the time when the reduction started to be developed, ID.Buzz still had infotainment version 3.2, which did not have the possibility of installing third party applications, was quite slow and spoiled the impression of an otherwise very nice and quality car with great potential, so we decided that we would like to change it.
First of all, we bought the Carlinkit Ai Box itself, which, when connected via USB-C, turned the basic infotainment into a multimedia centre where you could watch videos, play games, download apps and more, but there was nowhere to put the..... box properly, so it was constantly in the way, had to hide somewhere and, most importantly, its signal was dropping basically everywhere except the box. So we started figuring out how to solve this problem with an otherwise awesome helper. We found out that the inductive charging pocket by the steering wheel is easy to take out and there is a GSM and GPS signal booster in the pocket. But the box in the pocket was banging...
And so we created the first 3D model of the reducer, which copied the shape of the mobile phone case and Carlinkit was inserted into it. The problem of signal dropouts and the placement of the box was solved. The box in this reduction was fixed and could not move, but at the same time it could be easily removed if necessary. But after using it for a long time, it was found that the box would overheat and slow down with prolonged use. So the reducer was modified, an aluminum plate was added to take the heat out of the box itself and vents were made in the top of the reducer. After subsequent testing, the overheating was eliminated and the design of an ordinary piece of plastic began to be addressed.
The air vents were adjusted to the cutouts in the car's bonnet to match the car itself, and a groove for the cable was added on the left and right side for better handling, as it sometimes happened that the cable got pinched during handling. The classic PLA material has been replaced with carbon material for greater resistance to the elements and accidental drops. As an imaginary icing on the cake, the plain aluminum sheet was replaced with a black lacquered one and the silhouette of the beautiful ID.BUZZ was CNC cut on it.

After several months of testing, dozens of adjustments to shapes and details, dozens of hours of 3D printing and a moment on the CNC, the current Carlinkit reduction for ID.BUZZ was created.
